What the price of a "One Night Stand"

In a world where one night stands are common occurrences, are we really prepared for repercussions of these sexual encounters? Are we actually equipped to handle what affect these experiences will have on our mind, body, and souls? Can you walk away from these occurrences with your reputation and dignity intact? I’m going to break these “One night stands” down into three parts mind, body, and soul.
Mind refers to the aspects of intellect and consciousness manifested into combinations of thought, perception, memory, emotion, will, and imagination. First things first did you actually think about this decision thoroughly? Were you prepared with contraception? Did you actually plan it out or was it a random act? Were you emotionally connected to the individual or were you able to walk away without any regrets? Did you do it under your own will, were you manipulated or under the influence? Is your partner someone who does this all the time or are the both of you doing it for the first time? While most cases people wouldn’t know half these answers. This is just an example of how the risks out way the rewards because the only reward is pleasure which isn’t a guarantee either.
Your Body is supposed to be your temple, and you supposed to protect it at all times. Did you know that every time you have intercourse with somebody that they become a part of you? Are you able to except that reality? Did you think about the risk of pregnancy and the risk of catching sexually transmitted diseases that can kill you or stay with you for life? According to the American Social Health Association 19 million new STD cases are reported in United States every year. Your body is to be respected and not worth the risk of damaging because of one night of passion.
Soul is the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being. It is what many believe gets you into the kingdom of Heaven. Intercourse is supposed to be under God, between Husband and Wife, and used for the purpose of procreation. Now I’m no saint, but if you got a chance to make it right: then make it right. Why put your soul up for collateral, while living your life lateral, choosing passion over judgment. Deception over reputation and not realizing the real lies that are used for the opportunist to take opportune time to help agonize, demoralize, and hypnotize you into ignoring your spiritual obligation. In the end is a “One night stand” worth the price of your mind body, and soul.

  1. Oh sweetie how I struggle with this! Yes your words ringing so true…so matter of fact!
My infidelity (one not stand, turning into more than one night) was not sought out, not planned! It happened out of sheer boredom, a lack of mental connection between my husband and I. When I connected with this person it was everything I was lacking in my current relationship. Mental, physical, commonality, I needed and wanted so much! When we became intimate it was magical, bringing me to tears. How did I feel afterwards… horrible barely able to face my husband. So what did I do, I went back for more and more! Days , weeks turned to years. He…yes becoming a part of me, that’s been so hard to let go! I’m trying, really trying! Every time I do this God comes to mind, and me asking, begging for forgiveness.
So thank you for this post, further validating, it’s just not worth it!

    Happy/Blessed New Year to you!

  2. Yea, I have been here...On more than one occasion...But a one night stand or sex without love is so not worth it...Leaves you empty and sad after...You have given up your beliefs and have nothing to show for it...

  4. I agree with the ladies. To engage in meaningless sex says alot about how you feel about yourself. At the end of the day when we can't stand behind all of our materials hoping they shield us, all we have left is our mind and our bodies. And our vessels should be cherished and handled with the upmost care and respect because it cannot be resold or recycled. I don't even truly believe that the strongest person can really handle one night stands. I believe its to a point to where people mentally sike themselves out and just block it from their mental. Just in general all the damage as you stated, sometimes mental damage is the hardest to cure...just my thoughts.

  5. @ CreoleDarling I feel u sis, I don't think it has as much to do with strenght as it does up bringing. Sometimes we repeat patterns that are witnessed on a daily basis. Of course theirs exceptions to every rule, but men are usually taught to play the field. Even our own mothers uncontiously tell us not to settle down to soon or disapprove of our girlfriends... usually after we are already sexually active. Men usually then find out through a series of bad decisions that one woman is the way to go. Thanks 4 ur comment

  6. All of us seek comfort in some form, and it seems when we settle for the "one night stand", we are at our lowest. I plead guilty, but surely learned the lesson presented here. I know i want and need more and mere physical stimulation with complicated risks are no longer in my path, nor do seek it, nor do i want it. I want the whole package...until then this temple stands alone. Great post!

  7. @Mizrepresent.....We all are guilty. I'm just tryna find away 2 right some of my wrongs. Instant gratification has never been the solution to anything and now I'm tryna take it one day at time..... soul searching so that I can be the best person that I can be.Knowing what u want is really important. Thanks 4 sharing.
